Clean Solar Solutions have started the most intense period of solar panel cleaning since the company’s inception. During the next 6 weeks we will clean over 64,000 solar panels, in what is thought to be the largest undertaking of solar panel cleaning seen in the UK to date.
The solar panel cleaning will mainly take place across 3 large scale ground mounted solar farms in the Cotswolds, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire. One of the solar arrays that we will clean on behalf of British Gas Solar is the famous 4.1MW Toyota array that, when built was the UK’s largest solar park. The other two 5MW arrays are being cleaned for a different solar park owner, in preparation for a possible sale. We will also be cleaning the largest solar arrays in Shropshire and Powys which are both owner by poultry farmer Edward Davies. Combined, his sites produce approximately 433,473kWh per annum.

The cleaning teams have got off to a great start by cleaning over 10,000 solar panels in their first 3 days, averaging over 550 solar panels per hour.
One of the 5MW solar parks we will be cleaning is split between two fields. One half of the park will cleaned and the other half cleaned 2 weeks later. This is advantageous as it will give the owners an opportunity to carry out side-by-side direct comparison between the panels that have been cleaned and those that haven’t. They can then accurately measure the increase in output that the cleaning will bring. This too is believed to be the UK’s first side by side comparison available on a solar park of this size.
