Clean Solar Solutions Ltd have completed the cleaning of solar panels on two farms in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. The following shows how farmers are seeing great value in our solar panel cleaning service and are spreading the word.
We were originally contacted by Mr Goodwin of Burtsye Farm who was concerned about the build up of dust on his solar panels and the effect that would have on the efficiency of his system. We carried out the solar panel cleaning for him and he was so pleased with the extra revenue he was gettingas a result of the cleaning, he then referred our service to another local farm owner. This clean in turn led us to getting the solar panel cleaning at a third farm in Uckfield.
Burstye Farm in Haywards Heath has 831 solar panels mounted on a dairy shed. The shallow angle of the array and the very dusty atmosphere that the cows create means the solar panels get very dirty, as seen below.
We were able to use a telehandler on the farm with a cage mounted on the front and carry out the cleaning from the cage. This is particularly advantageous for farmers because it saves them money on cherry picker hire. The difference between the dirty solar panels and the clean solar panels in quite remarkable.
Mr Goodwin was very pleased with the results of his solar panel cleaning. His cleaned solar panels would go on to produce over 20% more electricity than they were before.
Mr Goodwin told a neighbouring farmer who runs Holmbush Farm, again in Haywards Heath, who asked us to go out and clean his solar panels. There were 272 solar panels mounted on a farm outbuilding. Again, we used a telehandler from which to do the cleaning and again the solar panels were suffering form the same issues with dust building up on their surface and blocking out the light.
Both farmers realise they were losing a good amount of electricity generation and in turn money, from having dirty solar panels. They are now regular clients of ours, have passed our details on to a third farmer for whom we have carried out solar panel cleaning and we hope that word will continue to spread throughout the farming community. Farmers are recipients of the largest increases in generation as a result of having their solar panels cleaned. The cost of cleaning is easily covered by the extra money generated by having clean solar panels.
