Clean Solar Solutions have completed the cleaning of a 100KW solar array on an organic farm in Tetbury, near Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The solar array is made up of 424 solar panels and is mounted on top of a dairy shed. The solar panels were installed in 2011, cover an area of 691 sq. m and are estimated to generate 86,000 kWh per annum.
Steve Williams, M.D. of Clean Solar Solutions comments “We were asked by Solarsense UK to carry out the solar panel cleaning after they analysed the increase in generation from a previous solar panel cleaning job in Bath that we carried out for them. Those solar panels too were mounted on top of a dairy shed and the solar panel cleaning brought an immediate increase of 23% in output. This increase obviously means a 23% increase in revenue from the solar array. With increases like that available, it made sense for Solarsense to contact other clients regarding our cleaning service.”
The roof of the dairy farm is classed as a fragile roof, so our cleaning operatives used a Genie S65 cherrypicker to get as close as possible to the solar panels and then used our solar panel cleaning kit to reach and clean the solar panels themselves. The whole array was cleaned in a day meaning minimum disruption to the client.
As well as solar panel cleaning in the South West, Clean Solar Solutions continue to roll out cleaning operatives across the whole of the UK. We will clean an estimated 80,000 solar panels during 2014 for solar investment companies, installers and end-users.
